Annual Report 2009-2010

The Kansas City Free Eye Clinic expanded its services even further this year. Over 7 resident ophthalmologists and specialists rotate through our clinic every month to provide their services. Over 100 hundred student volunteers were trained to perform basic vision services and have donated more than 500 hours of service to our clinic.

We held monthly clinics and participated in two health fairs serving an approximate 200 patients. The value of services provided only from regular clinic activities was $14,000 and over $1,500 of eyeglasses were dispensed.

Every clinic patient was sent home with a bag full of eye vitamins and drops during the winter. Nutrition for many of our homeless patients is poor many times so these vitamins were essential to helping to preserve eye health. Additionally, medications were dispensed for those with glaucoma and other conditions.
